About me andmy love for baking.

My Story

My name is Danuta (Donna) Portscheller, and I am a self-taught, home-based baker. I have lived in the Dekalb/Sycamore area for over 25 years with my husband and two children. I immigrated to the USA from Poland over 30 years ago. Suddenly all my dreams came true! I feel honored and privileged to be a citizen of this Great Nation.

Why I started baking

Baking has always been my passion. Growing up in Poland I was taught by my mom and older sister how to create delicious desserts, sometimes from limited resources. My first job in America was working in one of the most popular bakeries near Chicago who specialized in baking cheesecakes. This experience combined with what I had learned growing up in Europe fueled my desire for baking. I am still discovering, learning, and creating recipes; if you have suggestions, or would like me to make something you are craving, just let me know!

Sharing my love for baking with everyone

Over the years, I have made many desserts for family and friends. Time and time again, I have been encouraged to open my own bakery, but as much as I enjoy baking, the concept itself seemed quite overwhelming. I did want to share my talent and passion with others however, so I decided to manifest this idea. A few months ago, I went through the process of obtaining a Food Management Certification as well as a Home Kitchen Certificate from DeKalb County Health Department.

Thank You!

It would be my pleasure to bake for your special occasions, or just because it is a good day treat yourself! We can also deliver your order to someone special and sweeten his or her day. :)
